If you need help deciding which version of Capture One to get, I had an article about this a while ago (which is still relevant) So, for example, if you have the Sony version, you can only open Sony RAW files with it. As well as the limited features, you can also only open RAW files from the specific version. Basically, It does have the core RAW conversion features and basic editing features but it lacks a lot of the more advanced editing tools, such as Layers, Luma Curve, Process Recipes and so on. There is a detailed chart available here that outlines the differences. So what is the difference between the full version of Capture One and the free express version. But what about the Nikon version? Well, that is there too, but the company isn’t really advertising it, so you can find it by going to this link. This will give you links for the Sony and Fuji versions of the software. If you go to the Fuji or Sony versions of the software, the link to the express version isn’t really clear, however, if you scroll to the bottom of the Capture One website, you will find a link for Capture One express. If you’re interested in the Express version of Capture One, it can be a little tricky to find on the Capture One website if you’re not looking in the right place. If you have been using the older version of Capture One express, then all you have to do is re-download the software to update to the latest version. I got in contact with Capture One to clarify the current state of the application, and so here are the details.Ĭapture One Express for Sony, Fuji and Nikon have all been updated to version 21. There was also speculation that it wasn’t updated to version 21 but this too isn’t true. When Capture One Pro was updated to version 21, I saw a few people saying that Capture One Express was discontinued. Previously, the branded versions were available for $199 ($149 upgrade) or $19 per month.Just a quick update on Capture One Express. Subscriptions start at $24/month or $179 per year. The full version of Capture One 22 is $299 for a new license or $199 for an upgrade. However, for brand new customers with Fujifilm, Nikon, and Sony cameras, the loss of the branded versions means they must pay more for Capture One. Additional bug fixes will be made available for an additional year after that.Ĭapture One is doing a lot to ease the transition for existing customers. This offer ends in three months, on April 18, 2022. The branded versions of Capture One will continue to be updated until the next major release of Capture One comes out, which is standard practice. Those on a subscription plan will continue to pay the same price they are currently subscribed at, for as long as they remain a subscriber. Users of older versions (versions 21 and older) will be able to upgrade to the latest version of Capture One Pro at the same lower price they would pay to upgrade to a new version of a branded version of Capture One, which is a 25% discount. Current owners of the latest version of Capture One for Sony, Nikon, and Fujifilm (Version 22) will receive a free upgrade to Capture One Pro on April 5.
